This position is within our team of 20+ technical support engineers assisting users on a mix of systems and technologies.
This role is for a 2nd line engineer working with more advanced incidents and more advanced technologies. See our Service Portfolio pages for an overview. We add new clients and new technologies, so we expect a good attitude to taking on new products.
Key skills are an interest in technology, particularly in the networking and security field, and experience of using/deploying/configuring systems. Full training on specific products and technologies is provided. We expect a 2nd line engineer to have existing relevant experience and core product skills which we can build upon.
A good personality is a key requirement, with an understanding of the user's probable situation and pressures, and an interest in solving problems.
Our 2nd line working pattern typically involves a core Mon-Fri 9:00-5:30 role, with occasional shared 'on call' responsibilities where other staff or clients need additional assistance or guidance, and to be part of an escalation process for serious incidents. Typically being 'on-call' is no more than 2-3 times p/month. Additional allowances are paid.
Starting salary depends on skills and experience. A core salary is supplemented by allowances for out-of-hours duties. Typical salary package is £25k-£40k p.a.
